DENY YOURSELF...

NOTHING! That’s right, you heard it! DENY YOURSELF NOTHING! And that includes self-love & positive emotions! Oh, those emotions! You know those, right? The ones we "don't" share, sadness, pride, shame, fear, judging (yourself & others). All these feelings that we sometimes mask because we don’t “think” we have the right to express them. We’ll help others to realize theirs, family members, co-workers, friends, but many times we’re in denial of our own feelings. Next time you’re feeling "some kinda way", emote & share those feelings. Let it out! Denial can be destructive.

Remember Peter? (MK 14:29-31) Peter told Jesus that he would not deny him. Jesus told him, “Yes, today-tonight-before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times. Peter actually denied being with Jesus twice to the servant girl and the third denial, he denied Jesus himself. (Mk 14:66-72) Peter was lying to himself, but he couldn’t lie to God. Just like us, we keep silent, we lie to ourselves and others about our emotions and how we’re really doing. Just think if Peter had been truthful, would that situation have been different? We don’t know, but we do know that God still granted him grace; and we also know that He is still in the business of extending grace. And He will extend grace upon you too! So the next time I see you and ask you, “How are you doing?” Please tell me how you really feel!
