Ministry Moment with Michelle: Blanket of Comfort
Remember Linus Van Pelt from Charles Schulz's comic strip Peanuts? Younger brother of Lucy? He was the one who carried the blanket around all the time for security? Linus believed that that blanket protected him from all the trials and tribulations of the outside world. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. What's important is that he believed it. He had faith in that blanket.
This Christmas my niece and family blessed me with a nice, warm & fuzzy "UGG" throw. Every time I crawl under that blanket I feel warm, covered, protected from all things "outside". A certain, "peace" comes over me and I begin to relax. Sometimes too much!
I am reminded of God's grace as He covers us and promised to never leave us.
I think about how we all have some kind of "blanket of comfort". Children have stuffed animals, adults may have a fetish for chocolate:-) but isn't it comforting to know that we ALL have the Holy Spirit. He brings PEACE. John 14:27, Jesus said to his disciples, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." Enjoy a little PEACE today with your blanket of comfort!
